Partner Projects
Since 2009, we have played a key role in advocating for and supporting the development of visual arts in the city through working in partnership with other art organisations, as a Gallery and as part of Plymouth College of Art's commitment to creative education and social justice in its community, both in the region and internationally. MIRROR continues this work to support and work with others to share knowledge, skills and experience; to work strategically to improve the provision, access and growth of culture in Plymouth, alongside working together to make great projects happen.
During the last 12 years, our Curator Hannah has been a founding member of Plymouth Visual Arts Consortium (2009-2013) and Plymouth Visual Arts Programming Group (which she chaired for two years from 2017-2019). Through this work, we have worked with partners (including The Box; The Arts Institute, University of Plymouth; Karst; and Plymouth Arts Centre) to co-deliver five multi-site, multi-partner projects:
The Animal Gaze (2009), The British Art Show 7 (2011), Sinopticon (2012), Walk On (2014), We the People are the Work (2017) and British Arts Show 9 (2022)
This collaborative work continues into 2022 with British Art Show 9, with the city, alongside Aberdeen, Wolverhampton and Manchester, hosting this major landmark touring exhibition celebrating the vitality of recent art made in Britain.
