Leon Clements: Chemical Peel

Chemical Peel is one of a series of illustrations that together form a short narrative, depicting a range of characters confronting an incomprehensible and distressing event. The work primarily explores how each individual responds to such an experience.

Through its abstract marks, the painting seeks to capture both destruction and the psyche, compressing a fractured worldview into shape and suggestion. By peeling away the familiar, it exposes something underlying, something unsettling and not meant to be witnessed.
