MIRROR are inviting artists based in Plymouth and Cornwall to submit artwork for Bridge the Tamar, a group exhibition to be hosted in our gallery from April to June 2023.

MIRROR are inviting artists based in Plymouth and Cornwall to submit artwork for Bridge the Tamar, a group exhibition to be hosted in our gallery from April to June 2023.

Inspired by an image from the city archive of activists demanding a bridge over the River Tamar, the exhibition explores the local and global challenges of connectivity between peoples and societies.

Artists are invited to submit up to 3 existing artworks through an open call in response to the following themes:

  • Connectivity across distance

  • Displacement

  • Borders/margins/edges

  • Longing/belonging

  • Togetherness/community

  • Building bridges/repair

  • Closeness/distance

  • Place-making

Open call deadline: 31st Aug 2022, 9:00am

Selection: 5th-9th Sep 2022

All applicants informed of outcome: 12th-16th Sep 2022

Exhibition Dates
Install: 20th-30th Mar 2023
PV: 30th Mar 2023
Exhibition run: 31st Mar-10th Jun 2023

Fees
Artists will be paid £200 for each artwork presented (existing works).

Who can apply?
Artists must be operating professionally as an artist and be based within Plymouth or Cornwall.

Selection process:
Artists and artworks will be selected by Hannah Rose (Curator, MIRROR) plus staff from the MIRROR Advisory Group at Arts University Plymouth
