William Luz, A Ghost Object, Install Shot. 2022.

For Buy Art South West William will be selling a range of clay bodies accompanied by associated drawings from his recent project ‘A Ghost Subject’.

For Buy Art South West, William Luz is selling a series of small ceramics made from a range of clay bodies. These ceramic objects were presented alongside collages, drawings and a film as part of his MA installation ‘A Ghost Subject’; a project exploring the connection between drawing, looking and touching. These ceramics were made as drawings, neither specifically functional or decorative, they nod to archetypal forms or more abstract objects, made for the sake of making.

William Luz (b. Stourbridge, UK, 1984) lives and works in Plymouth. William is an artist whose practice explores drawing in an expanded sense through works on paper, print, ceramics and video with a focus on a process that aims to refer directly back to the act of making itself, embodied drawing and the preformative nature of an artist’s work.

He has an MA in Drawing from Arts University Plymouth where his research interests were focused on drawing, performativity and the point where art meets life and what this means for (his) work. He is one third of Nous Vous collective and has exhibited in solo and group shows across the UK and internationally. William also works as a commercial artist as Studio Luz and teaches across higher education institutions. Previous recent exhibitions include presentations of work at Ocean Studios in Plymouth and a commission for Plymouth Art Weekender, exhibitions in London, Tokyo, Porto and Malmo.
