Elaine Sinclair
Assistant Curator & Programme Producer

Elaine Sinclair is a curator, producer and writer based in Plymouth.
Her research includes art theory and practice, with particular focus on curation and community engagement. She has presented her work at Open Eye Gallery (Manchester) and has produced community outreach projects including Plymouth Art Weekender, Plymouth Contemporary and This is Endometriosis Global Photography Campaign.
Elaine studied at Arts University Plymouth, completing her Foundation Diploma in Art and Design in 2017, she then completed her BA in Art History and Curating at Manchester School of Art. During her studies in Manchester she worked as Committee Member for Paradise Works and was an Exhibition Assistant for the Holden Gallery.
After graduating, Elaine volunteered at multiple organisations across Plymouth to then take on the role of Freelance Producer and Curatorial Assistant, coordinating multiple exhibitions at KARST Gallery and Studios including, NoSoapRadio, Bedwyr Williams Milquetoast & Kevin Hunt’s Lowkey . Elaine also curated Annie Shrosbree’s ‘Thin Thighs, Thick Patience’ at KARST as part of KARST’s Test Space.
Elaine is passionate about professional development opportunities for artists, in supporting the development of the local art scene and engaging with, and building audiences for culture in Plymouth and beyond. She looks forward to working towards this through her role as Assistant Curator and Programme Producer for MIRROR.
